Born and raised in Scotland and Europe, Ann Tyre has lived much of her adult life in Winnipeg. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts (ceramics) from the University of Manitoba and since then has attended many workshops and residencies in Canada and overseas.
Her work has been displayed in numerous exhibitions and is in collections in Canada and the U.K. It is influenced by the world around her - by the simple strong lines of the prairie horizon - line and form are of primary importance in her functional tableware and decorative sculptural pieces.
Ann’s work may be seen in her garden studio at 23 McDowell Drive. Nestled in Charleswood, this studio is located near the Assiniboine Park and the Harte Trail. McDowell Drive is south from Grant on Oakdale.
There is a range of work in the studio from functional pottery and raku pieces to hand made cards.
